Re: Poll: Yes, always

>Carol,

When I was about 16 (oh so long ago), I was working on my neighbor's dairy farm. We were clearing a small woodlot, and I cut a small hickory. The hinge didn't break. Feeling invincible as all 16 year olds do, I decided I could finish the cut, delicately of course so I could control the saw. The hinge let loose, even before I finished the cut, and snapped the saw back which then removed the knee of my jeans. Luckily I didn't get a scratch, but I did learn a lesson. As I got older, and became aware of the chaps, I started using them, and always have since.

>Now that I have joined the ranks of chain-sawers I wear heavy gloves and boots. No chaps yet as they don't sell them here. I'll most likely pick them up when I'm in the US.

>I had them and I thought they restricted my movement, not a safe thing when you must be in total command of your body and able to jump or run, yep we always have to have an escape route, specially when felling trees.
