Natural Edge Sassafras Bowl/Platter

Jerry-Huntsville, AL

>My latest turning: 16.5x6x1, sassafras with danish oil followed by beal wax system. Turned it to about half inch and dried in microwave, then finished.

Required a fair amount of sanding and is not as smooth a curve as I would like. It also feels like it is too light (6.25 oz) for the size. It is just under .25 in thick and a very thin foot.

Comments appreciated.

>Here is a side view. You can see that both ends are not exactly the same. Must have moved after taking off the lathe.

That's a really nice piece. You done good. Is there a club in Huntsville. There wasn't the last time I asked around but that was years ago. John

There is none that I know of in Huntsville. I go the one in Birmingham (AWA). The demonstrations and instruction there has been great and helped me a lot.
