new ride OT

john Lucas

>Here's my new ride. It's a Cannondale R400. It's not as powerful as Dicks new ride but it gets better mileage. I'm guessing about 8 miles per donut. I'm going to be commuting to work as soon as it gets a little warmer. It's 8.5 miles. I'm going to ride in to the fitness center and lift weight for a good hour or more and then head to work.

This way I will have my workouts done and can go into the shop when I get home. Of course that assumes I will have enough energy to do that. Usually a bike ride rejuvinates me. This is my first new bike in 15 years.

You roadies.....

PS I also enjoy riding my classic steel framed road bike with my nice Campy Chorus components. No fishing reels on my roadbike. :-)

38 pounds!

Mike Schwing from Md.

>Thats almost a good fish! Wow, what a beast. My steed pictured above is just 2 ounces over 15 pounds. Add that to my 140 pounds frame and it is hard to stay on my wheel going up. Coming back down is another story.

>Congratulation on yours, I hope it gives you lots of safe enjoyment. Here's mine. This is a more geriatric version for me. Shocks to soften the ride and old man handlebars so you don't hurt your back bending over.

>Well, fortunately my nose didn't straighten itself out very much, and still sits a little too underneath my left eye, which I lost while a buddy of mine was hammering some tile loose. Also, a few more teeth broke when I took a spill off of my unicycle (yeah I ride one of those too), but I kind of like the ragged, vampire like look (my bride thinks it looks "hot"). I got the droopy eyelid thing going on the other one, but it don't bother me too much and the doc says its not likely to get worse. Last year I was caught in a fire so I have some burn marks on my scalp where the hair don't grow no more and due to a run in with a misplaced skateboard and a window fan improperly stored I sliced open my cheek, so I gots a scare there too.

But yeah, I'm improving. I can almost breathe through the right side of my nose again.

>Ron

I looked long and hard at Recumbents. I love them and it doesn't hurt my hip getting on and off. Unfortunately they start out at a Grand and go up from there. I also enjoy standing up and hammering hills. I couldn't do that on a recumbent so I'm putting that off until the hip gets worse. I'm assuming it won't get any better.

And I was also 140# (at 6'1")- same story going up hill, same story coming down. Never wrecked as bad as your picture, but I have my share of scars...

15#... man I miss it.

>Did the same thing with my Quintana Roo about 8 years ago out in Oregon. Face looked about the same, but only bent front forks and a torn seat cover (and ripped my new riding jacket to shreds.) Needed a new helmet too.

Fixed it, sold it and now I turn for excitement.

>Steve,

An old trackie! Did you race? I raced for a number of years up at the Lehigh Valley Velodrome. I miss my track bike too. A Schwinn Paramount with full Campy. It was sweet.

BTW to you non-bikies its the equivalent of a 2436!
