Motor Info *LINK*

Raymond Overman in SC

>Hello everyone. I'm trying to find a motor and and controller package that I can retrofit to an older delta lathe. I've been looking at a Freisen package off of eBay with the motor and controller matched with a 1 year warranty. Has anyone done business with these guys? Is there another supplier that offers both the motor and controller.

Unfortunately I'm a worse electrician than I am a woodturner which leaves me in fairly poor hands for making this decision. I think I'm looking for:

1 or 1.5 HP motor

single phase

110V (or possibly 220V)

Controller

0-3500 RPM

constant torque through the speeds

The link goes to some examples of what I've been looking at. Are these reasonable? Is there anything I'm missing?

>Raymond,

I think these people are good (I couldn't remember the name but I think this is the one) but no direct experience with buying from them. They have a 1hp for $323 and the motor is TEFC; the one you referenced doesn't appear to be.

>Have you looked at www.dealerselectric.com ?

There prices for the 1 HP you are looking for

$282 for 110 volt and $323 for 230 volt, but the thing that I like about their's is they have USA Marathon motors, not Taiwan cheapy.

Also their controllers run at 400 mghz if memory serves correctly which should make it very smooth operating with speed changes. Most sites don't even give that information and unfortunately most reading don't understand it's value.

I searched a lot and their package was the best overall I came across.

The 1 HP motor is offered in two versions, 110 and 220.

>Raymond,

Give them a call a Dealers Electric and they will set you up right. Everything is brand new the motor is fully enclosed so dust in not a problem. Also ask for the remote start stop which runs around $50 ( I think ). I have sent a few people there and everyone was very happy. Steve
