>This is the first piece I've turned that I could see the end of the tool on the bottom of the piece without bending over. It's a little thick at the walls because I kept losing bits of it that I wanted to keep.

The piece is cherry burl collected from a road construction site. It's finished with Watco Danish oil, lacquer and wax. Measures ~4" in diameter by 3" high.

Comments welcome.

>Nice piece. What tool did you use to hollow it? I haven't hollowed anything with such a large void but would like to try one.

The only advice I have is sharp tools and light touches with the scraper.

>Hi Raymond,

I like it a lot! There's something to be said for letting the wood speak for its self. I love the knarly, rugged appearance of this one.
