Does anyone know about Echo chain saws?..>>

Thanks in advance,

>I have one..... It is the model CS3400 and I love it. It is powerful enough for anything I want to do and is lightweight, small and starts real easy. It has the 16in. bar and will easily handle a 20 in. I would say that your decision should be based on how much you are going to use it. If you are going to spend half your time cutting timber, you would probably be better off with a Stihl or a Hsqvarna (sp).

an ok saw

>Ron, I have never heard anything bad about the Echo saws. As long as you buy from a dealer that gives good service the brand is not all that important for an occassional user.

>I have an Echo, string trimmer and leaf blower. They work pretty good. My brother has an Echo chainsaw, It's just an ok saw for the money he spent. Echo is probably a bit better than a Poulan, Homelite or Mac, however, IMO It's a bit pricy for what you get, and it's certainly not as good as a Stihl or Husky. If you're planning on doing a lot of rip cuts, get a more powerful saw. My next saw will be a Stihl 029 Farm Boss.

Well, they are ALMOST as good as...

Da big'un is great, the third from top is great...the one between them is good too, but too close in performance to #3 to spend the extra bucks on.

I may actually buy one if my old POO-lan ever dies, but it's not lookin' likely any time soon...

Well, thanks guys. I went ahead and..>>

>..>> Thanks for all your help. I went ahead and got the CS340 with the 34cc motor and 14" bar. I don't cut wood for a living so I don't need the very best. I need it to be small and light and start when I want it to. The prices here are about double plus there is an additional 17% VATax. This means I pay for an Echo what a Stihl would cost in the USA. The Echo ended up being $500 and the small Stihl with the 24cc motor was $1000. I always keep what Terry said in mind and the store is close but and they have their own repair center.

Besides meeding it to cut lumber to turn, one driving factor was what happened a while ago. My friend gives me a call and says that there are lots of wood in the Jerusalem forest that they are turning to mulch. I get there and see extremely large pieces that my tiny electric saw could never handle even if there was an outlet and thet ywere too big for my VW Golf and I would still have trouble loading them in my trailer. I praised the Lord that it was dark out and no one could see me cry. Now I'm a hazard on the mountain roads into Jerusalem as since I have my saw in trunk, my eyes are never on the road.

Oh, and one of the main deciding factor was that Bubba said it's almost as good as his poo-lan. Well, an 'almost as good' in Georgia is about as close as you'll get to admitting it's a good machine. =o)
