Don't worry about it. It will change color when you get sunlight on it. Put a fresh cut board outside for few hours with a quarter laying on it. You'll be able to see the outline of the quarter.

>OK THanks.
Will it still go back to being purple if I have some wipe on poly on it,or should I remove the polly and then set it in the sun?
Of Coarse it's fixing to Rain so there is'nt much sun today.

>Be sure to use a UV protective finish or at least keep it out of the sun. When freshly milled/turned it's brown and it does indeed go back to purple, however it will darken considerably with age back to a brown and on occasion even darker.

>Well... may sound dumb but... one way to help keep your color from being destroyed by UV oxidation is...
put a 2 or 3 coats of Armor-all on
before your finish... I know... sounds crazy but... it does work (ya the same stuff you use in your car to protect from UV)
I have used it successfully on a Purple Heart platter, and some pins... out of Purple heart, pink Ivory, redheart, etc.
