Here is a spalted mulberry bowl I have been working on. It is 6" in diameter and 3" deep. It has a deep void on one side so I made the walls 5/8" thick in order to maintain the integrity of the piece. To balance the thickness of the walls I rolled them over in a soft curve. So far, it has four coats of Minwax Tung Oil Finish and I am trying to decide if I want to wax it or use another final finish on it.

>I don't know about anyone else, but I like the color and balance. I also think that any final finish or wax you put on it should be more of a satin finish. I think "shine" would take away from the "drama" of the spalting and voids. My $0.02.
