Jennifer's maple burl

Mike Schwing from Md.

>Today I'm getting around to things I should have done a long time ago. Jennifer Shirley sent me this in return for (and probably from) a box full of maple burl cutoffs that I sent to her. It is about 2.25" tall probably and is displayed on our mantle with works of other turner friends of mine, on of which will be in the next photo.

I would probably have burned the scraps I sent to her, and look what she did with them!

>Hi Mike,

Looks like you did very well. I may have to review my pile of wood and see what I can send to her, maybe I'll get lucky!!

Wonderful to the supportive community here, even though we are spread apart, seems like we all are neighbours.

Take care,

Jim

>You lucky dog! I have known Jennifer for many years and she's never sent me one of her great works. Of course I've never given her a load of nice wood. ;-)

Yup, Jennifer's work is beautiful. Enjoy it!

>Hey.....did I make that?

Mike that box of goodies you sent me was like a box of little gems! I pick over it all the time finding the perfect thing for collars and these little tiny doo-dads :)

I think I ended up with the better end of the deal on this trade!

Thanks again Mike.

>Wow! Fantastic work Jennifer. From now on I will have to see what I can make with my scraps. And I will have to learn better tool control to make something so nice at such a small size. Great job
