Silver Maple Platter

Randy in Langley

>A group of woodworkers from around Vancouver B.C. got together a couple of months back to salvage a number of Silver Maple trees from a burn pile on a local Farmers land. We milled the wood and sent it off to the kiln for drying. We just got it back from the kiln last week and split it up on Sunday.

In return for allowing us to salvage the tree we have decided to make a few items for the family. Here is the first platter of two that I will make for the family.

2" x 12" Silver Maple soaked in BLO, buffed then finished with Lee Valley Turners Polish.

Comments and feedback are appreciated.

>Very nice! Coloration, grain is beautiful. I don't know about the stability with the foot so small though.

>Randy, that is one of the things woodturning is so great, making something so beautiful out of something destined to be destroyed. You did a splended job, keep at it.
