>I did not mean to imply that you turn in an unsafe manner. I don't think you do. I just was pointing out that the technique could carry some risk in less skilled hands (like mine).

Mark Mandell - Gone Round In Jersey

>Last evening I decide to debark a piece of maple before mounting between centers for a spindle. Wood's on the floor. Get out my 30 mm #7 carving gouge and lay it on the high work bench. While kneeling down to position the wood, the gouge falls off the bench. Does it hit the concrete floor? Yup, but not before hitting my left thigh, going through my jeans, and opening a 2-1/2" incision on the inside of my knee that took 9 stitches in the ER to close.

Apparently, I need to

1. Do a better job leveling my work bench,

2. Not sharpen chisels so well,

3. Invest in Kevlar shop clothing,

4. All of the above.

>You had nothing to do with it, Andy. It was the 2 e-mails and the telephone call that did it.

>Hi Mark,

Sorry to hear about your leg. Hope it heals up quickly. I like the kevlar clothing idea. Sounds like a marketing opportunity :)
