>All forests in Peru are supposedly managed under a new forestry law designed by the WWF but few follow the rules and corruption dominates. We own 17,000 acres where we harvest most of our wood and the majority of what we collect for turning blanks is from dead and downed trees as it is better than fresh wood. We are kind of the buzzards of the jungle picking up crotches and freak peices that any sane lumberman would not wany but great for us. We also collect out of the river bottom in Sept and Oct when the river is low. The river here drops 40 feet from high to low season.
