>I was just browing the Vicmarc website and saw a VL175 - Swivel Head Lathe. Resembles the Poolewood. Has anyone seen this up close or turned on this lathe? Is it a new offering, seems to me that it is.

>It's not new and has been around for a while. It's a very sturdy swivel head but it's not direct drive. I think that's a plus as I prefer a knock out rod and hand wheel. George Troy's Vicmarc owners group is an excellent source for information on that lathe. WHill I sell Vicmarc, I have the VL100, 200, and 300 but have never used a 175.
