>I think it was here that I seen a pic of someone that made a tool holder from a 5 gal bucket, with holes cut in the lid for holders, can someone post that pic again, or point me toward's it..thought it was a good idea, looking for something to sit next to the lathe, so I can just pick up the tool and go...have them scattered all over now..tks in advance..Dennis

Maybe these will help

>Dennis,

Not too long ago, I was in the same situation as you. I think it was about 2 years ago that I polled the members of the turning forum to hear about their tool storage solutions.

Here is a link to that thread:

Lathe tool storage options poll

The solution I came up with was somewhat simple, yet effective. I made a wall mounted tool holder. This organized all my tools and really made a difference in my shop.

Another little accessory I made was a rolling tool cart that sits next to my lathe. I can lay my tools there while working. Besides being a convenient place to mount my sharpening system, it gives me a 20" wide x 4'6" long counter to work off of. When I need to do the occasion "flatwork" item, it doubles as an outfeed table for my tablesaw.

But to answer your original question: If you look through the responses in my "Lathe Tool Holder Post", you'll see a response from Joe Fleming. He mentions his 5-gallon bucket tool holder. So maybe he is the one you're thinking of. Perhaps he can weigh in here.

See ya around,
