Canary Wood

>I was at the local WoodCraft Store and bought a Canary Wood board. It just looked too pretty to leave in the store! I really do have a kind heart. It's about 15/16th of an inch thick, 9 inches wide and about 6 feet long. Does anyone have any experience with Canary Wood? Is there anything to watch out for, like loading up sandpaper, or other problems? Does any particular finish work better than others for it? TIA

Tom

>Tek, I've used Canary wood a handful of times and I really like it. I've used it for small boxes, etc.. I'm sure you noticed a rainbow of colors in the yellow/orange/red/purple range? I've finished it with Tried & True Danish Oil and Hut Crystal Coat, which worked fine for what I was making. And I can't think of any "warnings" or advice in particular, other than try not to burn up your microwave drying a piece.. not that I'd know.. PS - it smells bad while on fire.

>I have used wax, Waterlox on Canary Wood. Looks great with both. It is a beautiful wood and makes a great accent for other woods like maple. I gave the cut-offs from a bowl to a friend and he used them to "decorate" a project. Looked great.
