Web Page Changes

Mark Kauder, Phenix City, AL

>I recently got the time to make changes to my web pages - bringing it in line to more of what I thought it should be, instead of using the template provided my the ISP.

I would appreciate any constructive critiques. If you like it, fine, I am not looking for a pat on the back. More looking for constructive suggestions. Got some good ones during the Chatroom last night.

If you are a Web/HTML Guru and you have a suggestion - telling me how to do it would be appreciated. I am just learning this stuff. (just learned how to make a link open in it's own window - neat)

Thanks, gang.

>Very nice Mark. Three comments for you:

1 - on the Links page - how about a link to your favorite WW forum.

2 - On the family pic page - the pics are too big for the screen.

3 - On the bio page - how about smiling? (and don't say that you are!)

>Harvey,

Thanks for the input.

1) Absolutely. The links page is growing each day.

2) The Family page was put out there mostly for my parents, and I wanted a bigger picture, but I think I will put a small pic on the page and link to the larger pic.

3) I do not like my smile - I look like a shady used car salesman. Also, when this pic was taken, I had a badly split lip that would crack open each time I smiled. I airbrushed it out with photoshop.

Thanks again.

>Separate the photos with "white spaces" when they appear together. Primarily I am talking about your shop shots. The second and third photos blend together as does your 4th and 5th photos (at least on my computer).

Otherwise, I think it looks very professional and pleasing to browse.

>Very nice site Mark. The only thing I would change is the default color of the links that come up on your 'Tips and Tricks' page. On my machine the links come up a light red, and that is difficult to read. If you follow a link and go back, the link appears in black.

I seperated them with black space.

Hope that helps. Thanks, John

>This is so strange - now I know why it drives our web developers crazy.

On my PC with IE6, the links to the Tips are all black and turn white when you roll over them.

However on the same PC with Firefox, the same page - some of the links are black and some are red - both turn white when you roll over them.

Guess I will play with them.

>Mark, I had exactly the same comment as Rick about the color in the Tricks section (all red for me). maybe it depends on your explorer default. there is a way in html to specify the color for "new" links, and for "visited" links.

(in the BODY tag add LINK="#xxyyzz" for the first category, and VLINK="#yyzzxx" for the second (the number between quotes corresponding to the color).

I also have a javascript error about "menuitem1", but I haven't investigated to find its root cause.

Apart from this, I find it very clean and well organized. I also like the background picture.
