More on radio interference

MIke Swain

>Hi all,

There have been a number of posts recently regarding the interference inverters cause to the AM wave band on radios. I have one of the few PM3520s here in the UK and I also suffer the same problem.

Having checked with various filter suppliers, one has come up with an RFI filter that measures roughly 2" by 3" has two terminals on one end and two on the other plus an earth terminal. So far so good, the guy selling the filter said all I had to do was fit the filter into the power cable leading to the lathe.

This sounds to simple, anyone have any views, thoughts or, like me, doubts?

The mains voltage in the UK is 240v single phase, there are three cables coming from plugs, live, neutral and an earth.

Regards....MIke

Easy as Pie - leave the ground/earth wire intact, and use the neutral and Hot wires. Does not even matter which wire goes to which terminal, as long as it matches the corrisponding wire on the other side, i.e. hot wire to one terminal on one side and the hot wire to the corrisponding terminal on the other side.

Filter for $1.75 each

Wayne Cooper Charlotte NC

>Mike

I posted a reply a couple of weeks ago. I order 10 of the filters (I couldn't pass up a bargain) at $1.75 each. I have a Jet mini vs and I mounted a receptical box on my bench and ran a Computer electrical cord to the filter and connected the filter to a standard receptical. Now I can plug in any devise that is making noise. I hooked it up last week end and it competely eliminated the static. The filter is rated 10 amp, 120/250 volt 50-60 hz. The web site to order is www.allelectronics.com or 800 8265432. Good Luck Wayne Cooper Charlotte NC
