I'm still waiting for the one I ordered. They said it was back ordered and it would be about 3 weeks. I don't remember exactly but it's been about 21/2 weeks. I'll really be interested in this chuck because it lookes exactly like my Vicmarc. Probably isn't but I couldn't stand the urge to find out. I'll certainly let everyone know as soon as I get a hands on look. John

>Last fall, I purchased the $38 chuck from Grizzley. Has the dove tail type jaws. Was not really impressed with the gripping power of the jaws. Instructions were vague, but indicated a wide operating range. Had a small bowl lose grip with the jaws after a small "grab", but was able to stop it before it became airborn. Had better luck turning the tenon to the diameter that mated to the diameter that the jaws were turned at. New late came along and so did a Oneway brand chuck. VERY impressed with it. Have not had even a close call with gripping power with this chuck. If you value your room around the lathe, and especially your face, buy a better chuck. It's probably cheaper than your health insurance deductable.

>I have yet to receive my PSI Chuck yet, they say it is backordered not due to ship until 1-28-05. I will post a review once I get it and try it out. I still ahven't used my new bottle stopper screw chuck yet because it is way too cold to use the shop right now.

>I initiated some of those posts because I was looking for a cheap chuck. After digesting all the info I received, I decided against it. I am going the glue block route for now. I know that isn't a review, but it's the opinion I formed from the feedback I got, which was fairly substantial.

>Mine is supposed to ship tomorrow so you should be getting yours pretty quick too. This will be my first scroll chuck in 15 years of turning so I'm really looking forward to it. Hoping only the price is cheap! LOL

older psi chuck

Dennis Taylor (Akron, Ohio)

>I have an older psi chuck that I used, but was not happy at all with it, the holding power is nothing, and the wings was a hazard to the hands..I have a talon, I have heard good about the mini compact, think Woodcraft has it on sale now for 99.00 from 119.00...don't have one myself, but few friends do, and they seem to like it...Dennis

Not until April now

john in KS

>Penn State's site shows their chuck will not be available until April. I too would like to hear about the new Griz chuck when someone gets a chance to try it.
