>Well I think you're onto something. I think the first on you posted most catches my attention. It is subtle yet dramatic at the same time.

The second posting is very unique and daring. I'm glad you added the bamboo, it is different, and while you are looking for your style, different is good.

Lastly, the third one, as you suggested, will improve as your hand develops. I don't normally find that designs burned into the wood like this catch my eye, except mostly for Molly's work - (which I'm trying to buy from her). It has to be done really well in order for it to look superb, and if you strive for that you'll get there pretty soon. It appears to me that burning is one method of surface enhancement where you can't hide inexperience. (so you won't see me going there for a long while)

Applause for striking out in new directions!

>Hi Jennifer,

I really like all three of your burnt pieces, but I think the first one is my favorite. Something about the shape/form and burn marks somehow is art deco to me and I really like that. Looks like you are having great fun.

I don't think the bamboo was a bad idea at all, I really like the contrast of color it provides.

Thanks for the pics.

I like all your burning work it shows real promise, I especially like the first bowl you did. I hope to start burning soon myself. What type of burner are you using?

>Thanks Mike,

You're absolutley right. I almost didn't post the closeup of the white maple pot. It is so revealing in my skill. Molly is definitly one who inspired me to buy the burner, her and -e-. I love both of their work.

I really have been having a blast trying different things. This week was truly a week of firsts for me in the shop. More to come!

Thanks again for your candid comments. I do appreciate them.

>Hi Ben,

Thanks for the nice comments. I bought the Optima1 burner and four different pens to go with it. So far I really like it. I have no affiliation with the company, but they were great to deal with. Lots of great info on the site too. Here's a link.
