Help, need parts source

William Duffield, on the Cohansey

>Does anyone know where I can find a couple of banjos for old style Delta lathes, like the one in the photo? This one accepts 1" diameter tool rests. I need them for a long home-made lathe for turning bed posts.

>I bought the one I have on Ebay. With out a tool rest they go about 25-40 depending on the day. Wiht a tool rest they go for 30-80. Delta wants about about 10 times as much as ebay. I paid 60 for mine with a 12 inch rest. Good luck. I thik I also saw them on a retailer site but I forget which.

Try under lathe accessories. I think there is one up now that is due in a few days. I am not bidding just saw it while checking for other parts for the old delta rebuild.

>But they're not like the one in the picture, with a slot for a bolt that goes all the way through the banjo a.k.a. tool rest plate. My problem is limited access beneath the bed ways, and the need for a long bolt I can drop through from the top and then tighten from the top.

>Thanks guys for all the help. I think I figured out how to adapt new style banjos to the old lathe. I have ordered the hardware I think I need, from McMaster-Carr, and when it arrives I'll let you know how it works out and show you what I did to make it work. If new banjos, with cam action, work, they will be a lot more convenient to use.
