double ended caliper pattern

>I am trying to find a double ended caliper pattern/plan. I know I saw one out on the net somewhere, but now I can't find it. It was basically just the S shape at optimum relative dimensions (I could easily make my own pattern if I new what those were). You simply applied the pattern to a piece of 1/4" ply, stack cut it on the scrollsaw or band saw to get 2 identical ones, drilled a hole in the center, flipped one over and bolted them together. Anyone seen such a thing or have advice about the shape/dimensions?

Thanks!

>Andy, I made a set that look like a giant pair of scissors. Mine have about a six inch "Reach". They look as if someone bent the blades of the scissors into a cirle. The trick is that the handles are exactly as long as the blades. The hanldes line up with each other when they are closed so that if the tips are a quarter inch apart the offset in the handles is the same. Mine are made of quarter inch plexiglass. I warmed it enough to make the tips meet. I'm planning to make a bigger set. My son and I both really like them. Because you hold them like scissors you can run them down the wall of a bowl and "feel" the change in thickness as well as watch the change at the handle. I also make it a point to set the cole jaws with enough space between them so that I can slip them in between and feel the thckness of the foot and bottom of a bowl. You could make them any size and shape you wanted. The only critical dimention is that the distance from the pivot has to be equal on both ends. I will post a pic if anyone is interested.
