Jet mini Question.

Stan

>I have a few questions about the Jet mini Lathe.

1. Can I get a Bigger handwheel. If so where.

2. Is there anyway to put a lock on the spindle?

3. Is there anyway to put a Index on the spindle.

Thanks

The handwheel thread is 3/4"-16 left hand. Handwheels from places like Reid Tool can be drilled and tapped to fit.

2. Is there anyway to put a lock on the spindle?

A locking bar can be made to fit in the holes in the inboard side of the spindle, like a banjo with a hinged bar.

3. Is there anyway to put a Index on the spindle.

YES ! Beall has an uncataloged index wheel that replaces the handwheel when in use. I prefer an index plate that goes on the inboard side of the spindle, behind the chuck.

I recently bought a rotary table that can be used to precision drill indexing plates. Expensive! One of my projects is to make an index plate for the Mini and any other 1"-8 lathes. I intend to post when I am done.

Hope this helps.

I'd like to know more about your index plate for drilling when you get it done.
