>Hi Tom,
Very nice! I like the use of the different woods, it really works well in this piece. Nice shape as well.
Sort of reminds of Barbara Eden in I dream of Jeanie :)
Thanks for the pic, really nice stuff!

>Nice looking vase Tom, I wonder how long I will have to practice before I can turn out something that matches this. I would be interested to know just how many pieces make up the vase.

>Bruce,
Thanks for the kind words. This piece has 126 pieces in it. Sounds like a lot, but really easy to do. The Cocobolo pieces are the hardest as they are cut with both the blade tilted, and the miter at an angle. This would be difficult to calculate except for Woodturner PRO which takes all the math out of it.

>Thanks Mike. I was looking for a nice form that I could experiment on. I have made 3 of these so far using Bocote, Cocobolo, and Iron Wood. I like this one the best so far.

>Hi Tom,
I really like this piece. I love the long grain of the cocobolo in the staves. The form is really nice and the contrasts in the woods is just right. I love it!

>Thanks Jennifer. I am working on another vase similar to this where I use stave construction throughout. That will cause the grain orientation to be consistent through the whole piece. I'll post if it comes out ok.
