dc hose is problem

Dennis Taylor (Akron, Ohio)

>I looked over the responses to my previous post, and the magnets seemed like a simple fix, I happen to have a medal hood, think from PennState for a dc hose, I think the hose is what pulls it off the lathe...I didn't glue the magnets to it, maybe that would make it better?...figure the maganets would allow it to move the length of the ways, although it is short, or level with the ways, figure it will work, not worried about the chips, but the dust...Dennis

>What I did was got some old disk drives and ripped them apart. The magnets inside about a 1/4 circle arc and have a place where they screw down on either side and are VERY powerful.

I took two of those and riveted them on the outside of a 5" hose. Spaced them about 4" apart with a washer on each side. Holds to the lathe bed REAL well or added a platform to my light stand to make it more positionable. Works great.
