couple of bowls (PICs)

>Had a lot of time to work in the shop this past weekened. Finished up these two bowls, too.

The cherry burl is local, and about 9" wide. The maple burl is from the west coast, and slightly smaller, maybe 8" wide. Cherry finished with tung oil and buffed, maple burl sanded to 12000 and then Watco Satin Wax'd - awesome product, by the way. Fantastic low sheen, soaks in deep and dries quickly. The first one won't hold soup so I guess it is art. I guess you could put your Cheerios in the other...

Thanks for looking!

>Hey Mike, Great Bowls as always.

I was wondering if you could shed some light on how you developed the edge on that Cheerios bowl.

Thanks,

>Hi Mike

Beautiful work as always. Thanks for the tip on the Watco wax.

2 quickies: what's the pink patch in the cherry - natural or did you infill and if so with what? And, how did you get the bark off the maple burl so cleanly? Pressure washer?

Cheers, Garrett

>Thanks Ryan. That natural edge is provided compliments of Mother Nature. These pacific maple burls are pointy like that underneath the bark. My supplier blows the bark off with a pressure washer and the little knuckle busters are what is left. It is a challenge to leave them intact but the results are usually worthwhile.

>Now Mike Stop this!......your stuff is way off the charts! If it's not creepy bugs....it's beautiful hollows and burly bowls...which to me look like they are turned to perfection! These two are stunning. Very nice work!

Jen....heading out to hopefully turn something half as pretty :)
