Threading Device

Chris in KC

>I just watched a DIY episode of Dave Hout turning a threaded lidded box. He used a device that fit on to the ways of what looked to be a Jet mini. The cutter mounted in the drive spindle with a collet chuck that must have had a Morse Taper #2 and the four-jaw chuck mounted on the device which took the place of the tail stock. I'm interested in getting something like this to cut threads for boxes. Anyone know what I'm talking about or what he may have been using?

Thanks for the help,

Chris

>Chris, check out: bonnieklein.com and bestwoodtools.com

They are the only two sources I know. There may be others. Get ready to spend some pretty big money.

>Hi Chris. A turner friend of mine made one of those threading devices himself. It was made out of plywood with sliding dove tail joints so that it could be adjusted in each direction. It works real well. And the best part the cost was way under the $300 the others charge.

Good luck
