>Ok, I have the new website at the point where all it would need was the addition of the inventory on hand..

The photos on the slide shows will be changed to better quality ones before I advertise the site for the general public. At this point it is just the concept of what I want to have...

I would like your input and I would like to know if those of you on dialup services can see the site in a reasonable time load

>I have a slow connection, but your site comes up just fine. I look forward to seeing it once you have it all the way up. I've turned a couple of your corn cob pens and love the way it looks. It is so much fun to mess with folks as they look at it and try to figure out what kind of "wood" this pen is made of.

Turn 'em round,

>Tom,

I have broadband, your site loads very fast.

The site so far looks great, I have to think that the finished product will be as well. I really like the idea of showing the various species of wood that you use along with the short narrative.

Nice job!

>The layout is great. I like it, especially the wood species page.

I didn't like the way the front page loads. I get a yellow bunch of text and then wait to read it while the background loads.

I checked my connection speed. It is over 3 Mb. so I think it is on your end.

Loose the yellow. I hate it. Go to a more subtle background and a dark text if you can.

Also, I don't like the photoshopped edges on your wood samples.

I know this is harsh but is my honest opinion and I wish you well.

>Tom,

First I think that the basic layout & navigation of the site are very good. It also seems to load quickly enough on my DSL system

The "My favorite pens" logo, at the top of the home page is 800px wide. Many people, myself included prefer to set our monitors to 800X600. Due to the scroll bars, margins, etc.. this causes me to have to horizontal scroll to see your whole home page. horizontal scrolling = bad.

probably 750px would be fine.

I would add a little vertical spacing to your picture(page1.html) so that the font is pushed away a little, from your picture - maybe also put a thin border around your pic.

in FP right click on the picture and there is hspace & vspace settings in the properties box.

Your pens are all beautiful. I also used java for similar things on some of my sites, but some people have their browsers set to not display java. These people would not see your slide show.

I would change the font color & make the background a lighter wood tone. It is not very conducive to having someone want to read your content.

I like the page describing the wood - adds value to your pens.

You've got a great start here - you will want to tweak it and add to it as time goes on - everyone does :-)

Just my .02 worth - hope this helps.

>I use a 56k dial-up with AOL and your site loads fast, the slide show comes up real fast too. All in all, I think your site is excellent. I know you have some tweaking to do and am confident that your site will be among the best.

>Hi Tom,

I just looked at the site on a dial up at 45k, and I think the site loaded with acceptable speed,,, My only comments would be that I dont know if A person unfamiliar with pen types will know what the side bar of pen types means, when he or she is looking at them, I also think the yellow is a bit tought on the eyes on the dark back ground,,

Good luck with the site, I think you have a lot of nice work there.
