Any turners on Maui?

Dave Smith, Longview, WA

>Sandy and I are heading to the Vally Island Friday morning. We will be there two weeks. I can't stay longer because the moss on my back will die. It is tough getting used to the warm water swimming but I get along pretty good. Are there any turners that would like to get together?

Saturday the 22nd I will fly over to Hilo on the Big Island. Doug Leite has agreed to pick me up and take me to his turning club meeting. I am looking forward to a good time. I will be giving a talk about the alcohol soaking process for drying roughed out bowls. If anyone will be on the Big Island on Saturday check out the meeting.

Same trip in April.

>Thank you for scouting locations for me.

I'm going to Maui/Hawaii April 23-May 7 (current plan). Don't get caught stealing anyone's firewood piles. They burn some pretty stuff in Upcountry Maui.

If you are on Maui, check out the gallery in the Hyatt Regency. They had some of Ron Kent's work their (IIRC) when I was there in 2000. amazing stuff.

I'll be there a week and then three days on Oahau. I'll chck around when I get there and maybe pick up some local wood.

Have a good time on your trip and don't let the moss dry up.

>Be sure to stop in. The owner is a really nice guy. He has some fantastic turning stock. No connection -- just a happy customer.
