>I have deciderd its time to do something about the dust I have been breathing!! what seems to be the most advertised in the catalogs is the triton, airmaster 30 and the trend. I would appreciate any feedback on what system any of you use. all help would be appreciated.

>I have the triton and use it a lot. At first the weight was a little heavy but my muscles grew to like it. Runs 4 to 5 hours per charge and the filter really shows the capture of dust. The ear muffs provide good sound protection from my shop vac. Only thing they could add would be speakers to listen to the radio!!

TREND

Jennifer@Indy.USA

>I just bought the TREND Airshield and so far I love it. It's quiet and comfy and it keeps the dust out of my face, nose, mouth etc. I've really been noticing a lot more headaches this winter while I have the garage door down and less circulation, even though I use a dust collector focused on my work while turning and sanding, as well as a shop air filter. I knew it was time to take it seriously and get some better protection. I think the TREND is going to suit me just fine. I've only been using it for a week, but so far I give it two thumbs up!

>I just purchased a Triton it arrived last friday and I have only used it twice but love it. I should have had it long ago. If you happen to get a Triton make sure you get one with the updated hose and connections as the early models had a hose that interferred with head movement. The updated hose and connections are more flexible than the original.

Good luck on whatever one you chose.

>Jennifer,

I was thinking about the Trend, and I was concerned that the gasket seal would create pressure against the frames of my glasses, mostly on the sides. Yea, I'd love to try one before just ordering it, but nobody around here seems to carry them. Any input would be a big help, thanks

>Hi Ed,

I wear glasses and they don't seem to be a bother. Plenty of room inside. The gasket seal is a soft neoprene (I think) and it pretty much form fits around everything. I bought mine from Woodcraft and tried it on in the store. They only had one and it looked like it had been messed with quite a bit and the manufacture date on the face shield said 2003, so I had them order me a "new" one. It's manufacture date was November 2004. They are also offering a rebate for a free second battery until the end of the month. $38.00 savings.

>Jennifer,

Thanks very much, yes I saw that same ad and the extra battery might be enough to twist my arm finally. My cartridge respirator gets too hot after a little while, plus it tends to interfere with my face shield. Thanks for the input.

>Ed, If you find it uncomfortable, Woodcraft has a generous return policy. Up to a year if you're not fully satasfied. That was the other reson I bought from them.

headaches (was: Re: TREND)

Mike L

>Hi Jennifer,

I have a few question if you don't mind. Are your headaches of the migraine variety and have you noticed a decreased frequency since you started using the respirator? Also, you said you have dust collection set up. What particle size is it filtering and do you also use other air filtration devices? TIA.

Cheers,

Mike
