>Can I use the McNaughton Coring System on a Jet 1236?

I've cored some blanks with a parting tool and that can't be the easiest way to do this.

>Ron,

Before my buddy bought his Powermatic he sued the McNaughton on his 1236. It was slow going and taxed the lathe a bit but it worked.

When we left you guys the other day I took 93 south with the intention of hitting 209 over to I-476. We hit several closed roads, mud slides on 309, trees blocking lanes, ice, etc, etc. 2 1/2 hours later we arrived in Allentown and I-476. What should have been a 3 to 3 1/2 hour trip turned into a 5 1/2 hour adventure, saw a lot of nice country and quite interesting sights, however I'd prefer it under different circumstances. Well, like they say, It's not just a job, it's an adventure.

Keep me in mind next time and good luck with the McNaughton. As I said I think that you can do it if you take it slow and easy.

>Gald you made home ok. Many people didn't get thier power back on until Monday.

I bet you can guess why I want a coring system (and a bigger lathe)

>Indeed! Well I have the big lathe and I bet you know what I was looking at in the CS catalog the other evening.......I won't need it with the block that I have now but I'm sure that I will after our future purchases.

Thanks for including me!

>Coring some burls, Would You???

hehehe

Will work on the 1236, but only over the ways [NOT EVER OUTBOARD]. Then remember to keep the knife sharp and oiled (WD40), the kerf clear, the knife locked in position at or just above the center [Never below center], and let the knife self-guide according to its shape.

Wound up going east on 245 when they closed 309 over the mountain (probably just after I went through going north) then got stuck on 78 when they closed it for another wreck at Hellertown.

I gotta get a bigger lathe. I've been procrastinating too long.

>Mark,

Were you on Rt 145 south? We were behind a van with NJ plates that exited onto Rt 22 E when we hit it west, thought it might have been you. We also hit the 309 detour, the flagman said "Mountain is down, gotta go that way".

Re: Yup, Nope

Mark Mandell - Gone Round In Jersey

>On 145; not in a van; didn't go west on 22. Went East on 22 after going all the way to 78, getting stuck in the jam, leaving a few more ruts in the comedian, and going back to A/B to get to 22.

Fireman said road blocked with down trees. I offered to help [for blanks, of course]. He smiled and asked how I was with high voltage wires? I said "Don't do electricity." He pointed east and said "Allentown's that way."

Meant

MikeinCapeMay

>SUV, not van. Think it was a Toyota and it headed east on 22 from 145, we headed west. Anyway, saw lots of potential blanks as well but not in great harvesting areas. BTW, we didn't bother with those "blanks" along the road near Ron's.....See you next time.

Mark Mandell - Gone Round In Jersey

>SUV, Toyota, 22 East yup. Me? Maybe. Passed the blanks by as well. Hate to soo good wood wasted, but I pile up any more and SWMBO's gonna teach herself how to run a chainsaw and splitter.

Hmmmmm. There are distinct possibilities here . . .

I happen to know that a new shipment of Stubby 750's has just arrived and there are a few remaining unsold. E-mail if you're really ready or want a test drive.
