Laser ueage

Duane C.Leach

>I got one of those lasers from a friend ( yes I have a friend )with the idea of making a laser guid for my hollowing rig. Yes i know it's cheating. But I found a better use for it the laser anyway. My 2 1/2 year old grandaughter thinks I have red dots living under my couch. Sometimes the dot comes out to play. And she will pick it up and carry it around. The funney thing is the adults have more fun watching her than she has playing with dot. One of these days she will figure out whear dot comes from.Untill then no laser guided tools. If you try it be carfull not to shine it in anyones eyes.

Grandkids are even more fun that turning.

>I'm curious about the laser "issue". What is the problem with using a laser? Isn't it just another tool in the turners toolbox? Is it the purist vs. nontraditional argument? I've seen this in many references. Apparently, it is something that many people feel passioante about.

Inquiring newbie minds want to know.

It's just another tool

>If you take this one away then you should take the others away also. Art is only in the end product; how you got there isn't art, it is skill.

This is my opinion, others can do it anyway they please.

When the wheel was invented . . .

>Was it cheating to ride?

Even those who will only use hand tools sometimes use handtools that were made by CNC machining centers.

Can we stop progress ?

>Exactly my point. It's a means to the end which hopefully, will be a beautiful turned piece.

>Lighten you guys.Laugh a little. The original post was supposed to funny.Or at the very least show that some of these toys we think we have to have can be used for something other that turning.

Remember turning should be fun. If it's not then we might as well get a real job and be like every one else that hates their job, the rush hr.trafic.
