>Just wanted to share my first turning with you. It's a little maple burl that I rough-turned on my new Jet mini lathe. The bowl measures 3 3/4" in diameter by 2 1/2" high. I coated it with Pentacryl and wrapped it in paper to dry. Comments and criticisms most welcome.

>Well congratulations! Not too many of us can claim to have had our first turnings actually make it off of the lathe in one piece. Please show us the final work on this, too.

Great Start!!

>Hi John,

I am very glad to see you are turning now. I very fine first start, you have walked through the process. I think you'll want to sign and date this piece for future reference.

You'll see that once you get going it's hard to stop. I think you know that you need to work on a few things here, taking more wood off the sides, a more flowing shape, and some turning of the foot region.

You have made a great first turning, keep it up and keep posting your progress!!

take care,

Jim
