Not enough info

>The motor may be a 110/220 or it may be a straight 220V. Could also be a 3 phase 220v. We can't help unless we know more.

>Terry,

I did some research at Gast' website and that model is 110-220 so I assume that it can be wired 110. Based on the specs that I provided in my first post does it appear adequate for chucking?

Thanks,

Mike

Model 0523 is the one which Packard

>Woodworks sells for use with vacuum chucking. You should be fine with this one.

>Surplus Center sells one with very similiar specs and it cannot be rewired, it is 220 only. But they sell them new for $89 dollars, so wiring in a 200 outlet isn't that bad of an idea. I love mine.

>This is the 0523 from Surplus Center. According to the Gast website it's 110/220. I'll check with Surplus. Thanks.

>Mike, I have one of he Gast 220 VAC models. It was bought off of Ebay. It is not capable of being rewired to 110 VAC, so I just built and extension cord (of proper wire size) and hooked it up to the same outlet as my Delta 18" band saw which does't draw the full 20amp load. I had to get a double 220/20A receptacle. You would have to get the receptacle at an electrical supply house as the big box stores don't carry them.

Hope this helps

>Those units cannot be rewired, they are 220 only. I'm also not aware of a standard part number at Gast for these, I communicated with Gast and was told that these units were a custom OEM order built to their specs. It's a great pump, and if you don't have a 220 outlet in your shop yet, it's time you did.

My first one broke within days, and Surplus Center on a phone call shipped out the replacement, let me place the bad one in the box, and paid the return shipping. Great place to deal with and they stand behind their products. No affiliation, just happy.

>Thanks. I have 220 but it's dedicated to the lathe. I could add another outlet or look into a transformer perhaps.

Thanks again to all.

Mike, you have it already....

TD

>Mike, once you start your lathe it will seldom pull enough amps to come even close to the breaker limits. Try to run the pump off the same line as your lathe; if it doesn't kick the breaker then you are set.

>I frequently turn my lathe on and off while the pump is running. I'd be scared having both the lathe and the pump on the same circuit, but that's just me. I also have a dedicated subpanel in the basement shop and running a new line would only take me about an hour, and cost me a breader, a little conduit, and so it's an easy choice for me.
