>Where are you located, or how far are you willing to travel. Arrowmont in GatlinburgTN and J Campbell Folk School in BrasstownNC are both excellent schools, but I'm partial to Folk School because the food is better, and I also teach there.

>Check out Trent Bosch. I went to his studio in october. He is an excellent teacher with very personalized instruction on what ever you want to work on.He only takes 4 turners at a time for three full days with great home cooked meals.

>I have been to 2 week long classes at craft supplies and highly recommend them. Instructors are first class, equipment is first class, Craft supplies treats you very well. Days just fly by and the area has a lot to see and do in the evenings.

>I'll second the vote for Trent Bosch, I was there in November and had a great weekend of turning.

I couldn't find my list of schools. I'll keep looking. 2 other schools that are resonably close to you are Anderson Ranch, I believe it's in either Boulder or Aspen, CO. and the Marc Adams school of woodworking in Indianapolis, Ind. Both are good schools and have classes similar to Arrowmont and Craft supplies. They just don't have the atmosphere of John C. Campbell folk school.
I'll keep looking for my list of Craft Schools. I must have filed it somewhere unusual. John

>Dummy me. I forgot to mention the Woodcraft Stores. They almost always offer weekend classes in all sorts of woodworking including turning. There are 2 or 3 stores near baltimore.
I would also check with the Woodturning Center. www.woodturningcenter.org I don't think they offer classes but may be up on schools or instructors near you. They are in philadelphia, PA.

>I have attended John Campbell Folk School and reccommend it highly. By the way they have a lot of other classes that your wife may like to take at the same time that you are turning!

>Although the Woodcraft store in Rockville, MD might be a hike for you, I recently attended a class presented by Cliff Poodrey (Bethesda) which was pretty excellent for the fledgeling turner, like myself. Also there is a new club forming in Frederick (Mid-Maryland WoodTurners)& they may have some suggestions- contact Tom Mullane- oldgriz@oldgriz.biz.
