Overkill?

Heather A

>Hello all. I have unexpectedly obtained a used Delta 14" bandsaw and a Delta 3hp unisaw with a biesemeyer 50" fence. The wife of the man I purchased them from asked what I was going to use them for. I told her cutting pen blanks. I thought it was funny, she didn't get it. The only bad thing is that he thought the unisaw was 110 but it is 220 so I have to get the garage wired correctly before I can play with it. They make my Jet mini lathe look tiny.

No excuses now!

>You're making me drool...about the Unisaw. I would love one of those. Top of the line and power to spare! It's well worth the 220 line. You'll love it.

>Captain Ahab get the harpoon, she's gonna blow!

Congrats on the score of the saws. Put them to good use, get a much bigger lathe! ;-)

Sweeet!

>That pair is a sound basis for all sorts of stock handling/prep.

(I'm jealous - I would like to upgrade to that pair from my 10-inch Delta bandsaw and a Craftsman contractor saw)

Nah, it's not overkill!

>I have a Jet mini, a Unisaw with 50" Unifence, a Delta 14" BS with riser, PM Jointer and other iron. I still use all of them (and yes, I cut pen blanks on the Uni) But my immediate task is to build a lathe stand so I can use my bed extension on my mini. Congrats on the new tools, but be safe on that Unisaw. Did you have a table saw before?

>Carole,

No, I have not had a table saw before. I can't even remember if I have ever used one before. Nothing like going for the good stuff huh! I actually just wanted the bandsaw but the table saw was such a good deal that I could not pass it up. I have checked out every book on table saws that my library has and a couple of videos also. I also have a great bunch of folks at my local woodworking club that I can ask for help. My husband made me promise not to cut off my fingers!
