turning a cube?

>Thought I would post a photo of a cube being turned. first I turn between centers, then a jam chuck to finish off. In the photo, the tailstock is in place for security, then will be removed to finish the very center of that side. In the photo, you can see the cube has been hollowed and a threaded ebony insert installed.

Yes, a cube can be turned on the lathe!

>Hi Tony, it's just that nothing else works as well.....actually, when I started to cut it up, it was honeycombed inside, so had to find a use for it.

>Again Mark, this is all YOUR fault. It was you who suggested a base of this type. SO, as a turner, I had to figure a way to make one!

Mark Mandell - Gone Round In Jersey

>You're not pinning This One on Me, Mr. Tompkins! I never said nuthin' about no squared circles or such. All I talked about was how a base that ain't a base can still operate as a base.

You're just gonna have to take all the credit for this deal by your own self.
