Tailstock Drillchuck help needed

Michael Stadulis, in Gloucester County, NJ

>Hi gang, and Happy New Year,

In a recent auction I acquired a box lot from a hardware store w/ about 4 Jacobs chucks. One is threaded 1/2 X 20, and I was hoping that I'd be able to find a threaded #3 MT to screw into it so I can use it. Any ideas of where I can find one, or will I find out that it's cheaper to buy one at Crafts Supplies?

BTW, does anyone need a small chuck for a project? Let me know and I can supply you with one.

The unthreaded one's MT 3 to JT are plentiful.

You could get a #2 MT to 1/2" x20 and then use a MT 3 to MT 2 sleeve with it, total cost for both together just under $20.00 in my 2 year old catalog. Both MSC and Enco are unavailable via internet tonight, must be doing computer maintenance or year end inventory.

>Hi Mike!

WRT your problem, I second what Don said.

Since the chuck is the expensive part of the set-up, the sleeves (threaded MT to run into the chuck and another with a MT to go from the chuck to your MT size), the expense of tooling is minimal.

FWIW, Enco often runs a free shipping with $50.00 purchase special. Even so, if that is all you are looking for, shipping should be minimal anyway.

Best of luck.
