first goblet

Bill Sams

>Hi all,

On this first day of the new year I decided to try to turn my first ever goblet. Just a peice of oak from the firewood pile, just wanted to see if I could actually do it. I did! and I thought not bad, not great like the rest I have seen here on this forum. Just wanted to share.

Have a great new year!

Bill

>Good job, Bill, firewood is my favorite source of one-of-a-kind turning material. My neighbor just had a dead nectarene tree blow over and I have been gathering dry turning wood and am adding it to my stockpile. No two turnings are alike, and the worm holes and spalting sure add texture and wild grain to the finished pieces.

>Bill a lovely job with wood from the fire wood box. You wouldn't find any oak in my fire wood box as it is usually destine for the furniture business. My wood box only has maple, birch & ash, hope I find some oak in it someday.

Good luck
