A couple of hollow forms.

Phil Joines Krum, Texas

>I turned these a while ago but wasn't happy with them. The grain is plane :>). After seeing them sitting on the shelf for a while LOML decided to decorate them.

This one is cottonwood and ebony. The decorations are cottonwood leaves and seads.

Not hollow forms.

Phil Joines Krum, Texas

>This pair were made as a present. 11 1/2" dia. Cottonwood again. The finish on all of them is 3 coats of sanding sealer, 3-5 coats of Krylon spray laquar and wax.

BTW whan does a plate become a platter?

>"A large shallow dish or plate, used especially for serving food"

My take is that most of the time it depends on the size, ie. bigger than a dinner dish.

>Very nice Phil, I really like them and translucent colors you got that don't hide the wood. What did you use for coloring?

Really nice pieces. I think it became a platter because someone commissioned a wide flat bowl and when it was delivered the customer said it needed to be flatter. This went on for several visits with the customer continually saying Flatter, flatter. As time went by it just turned into Platter.

Sorry. I'm in a good mood this morning. I don't have to work and get to play in the shop.
