>Here is a bowl turned from Goncalo Alves. It is 10 1/4" by 2 1/4" and 1/4" thick. The wood was very dry, measuring 10% moisture. The foot was held in a dovetail recess 3 1/2" in diameter for the turning of the inside. The contour of the inside matches the contour of the outside. Only two tools used, a 3/4" bowl gouge and a 1/2" half round nose thick scraper. Sanded to 1200 and finished with EEE Polishing Compound and then with Shellawax finish.

Comments and critiques welcome.

>Hi Les, nice piece! If I have any critique, it would be to make the foot smaller. About one-third of the overall diameter is a good rule of thumb.

The use of a waste block will eliminate the chuck as the determinating factor in the size of the foot.

>Keith, thanks for your comment. I planned to use the foot as a feature of the piece. I could have, and likely should have, made the foot smaller. Thanks.
