Bill Grumbine Video

>Just wanted to take a moment to say that Santa brought Bill's "Turned Bowls Made Easy" video for Christmas (well, OK, my wife got it for me after I dropped a hint that I heard about this video on this forum) and it's a fantastic video. Content and presentation were excellent and I'd have to say that it's probably the best video on woodturning that I have seen. If anyone out there is looking to learn how to turn bowls, or like me, have been turning bowls for a while now and want to enhance your skills and techniques, then this is a wonderful video to get!

And, Bill, if by chance you read this, just wanted to say great job!!!

(A shameless pitch, in case you didn't know!) ;-)

>My wife also bought the video for me only in my case I sent off for it and had to give it to her to wrap. I came down with one of those killer cold Wed. before Christmas. Now talk about a silver lining. I've been able to watch it twice and many parts three and four times.

Bill you did a great job.

>I have viewed it, reviewed it, loaned it. It is the best. His use of FOUR cuts was very helpful to me as I was finishing off some Christmas bowls. As an old professor friend of mine used to say about a great book, "If you don't have this book (Grumbine's DVD) and still have your shirt, sell your shirt!"

>I have been turning for a few years and think this is one of the best videos on "how to turn" I have seen. I found myself wanting to keep watching it like a great movie. I have seen other videos where I was hoping the segment would soon be over - not so with Bill's!

He also demonstrates at a pace where you can see what and why. I have a Raffan video where his demonstration is just too fast.

>Thanks Brian, and the rest of you, for all your comments and compliments. Probably the most fun I am having with all of this is making my kids read all the posts! Seriously though, I do appreciate all the feedback, and I am humbled by all the nice things people are writing.

Happy New Year to all of you.

>Bill, In the chainsaw segment you gave a very good lecture about poison ivy. You know that part about removing it.

Did you decide it wasn't PI just before you laid your hand on top of it to show the pith? :>)
