Cherry Burl Vase

Ron in Drums PA

>8-1/2" high x 4-1/2" wide x 1/4" thick.

Danish Oil

This is from the same burl as my cherry burl bowl.

This was finished about 6-8 weeks ago. While I was turning I found I was a bit to aggressive and the walls where about 5/16" thick. I decided to complete the turning while it was on the lathe and crossed my fingers. It cracked a little (as is noticed on the bottom right) and warped a little. But I think it will hold up fine. Today My wife placed in some Christmas holly it looks very festive for the holidays.

As always, your critiques are welcomed. Thanks for looking.

>Hi Ron,

I like this vase very much. I've been eyeing this form for a while but have yet to go this direction after I start something. I really like the shape and the figure in the wood. I can just imagine that that it looks great with some holly in it!

Merry Chirstmas!

>Hi Ron,

I like it. Sort of a mix of classical styling and a rustic look thing going there. I like the wood. Thanks for the pic.

>Beautiful piece of wood and work, Ron. I would think a drop of CA and some dust in that crack would make it disappear.

Merry Christmas to all! Phil
