This and three others are going to be christmas gifts. But, I'm not sure what to call them. When does a bowl turn into a platter?

As always, your critiques are welcomed. Thanks for looking.

>Nice job. I like to look at it the other way. How much lift can you give the sides of a platter before it becomes a bowl.

Call it a "Bowlter"

But then you're going to get all the ex-carrier guys telling you that this is the term for when a fighter jet's hook misses the arresting gear cable! (Spelled "B-o-l-t-e-r" actually)

Ron,

I love doing these kinds of platters (shallow bowls,...whatever). And you did a fine job on this one. Have you thought of making a stand for it? It's pretty enough to be called a piece of art and should be displayed so that everyone in the room can see it when they walk in.

I made these really simple display stands from a piece of walnut, (2) 1/2" dia x 4" long wooden dowels, and (2) 3/4" dia spheres. The dowels and the predrilled spheres came from "Michaels Crafts". The entire assembly took me about 5 minutes.

I'm trying to find a pic of the stand. I must have saved it on my computer at work. Anyway, I got the idea from Bill Neddow from WOW. I was able to find a picture of HIS stand. I hope this shows you what I mean.

See ya around,

Dominic

>Very nice, Ron. Tried all day at work, but the pic would not load.

I to struggle with that when is a bowl, a bowl, is a platter.

Nice work - nice finish.
