Shingled Birdhouse ornament

Larry Hancock

>While I was taking pictures of ornaments I figured it was time for one of my infrequent postings to say hello and wish everyone here a Merry Christmas. You have a great group of people here with a lot of talent that seems to be growing larger everytime I visit.

I have been turning some birdhouse ornaments and decided it was time to make something that looked like shingles on some. This design reminds me of a slate roof. I used a wood burner and rotary tools on the roof.

That's one of the nicest shingled roofs I've ever seen. My friend Everett does a wonderful job on them but I believe yours is at least equal if not better.

>Hello Dave,

Life is pretty much a series of doctor and hospital visits with my wife and oldest son right now, we're on our way to the doctors office this morning. I get a little turning in at times though and scan the message boards to see what is going on.

Take care and have a great holiday season.

>Thank you. This is my first carved roof on an ornament. I need more practice to cut down on the time it takes to make one of them but it was nice to do for a change from just turning. I have lots more variations I want to try but my ambitions are ahead of my skills at this time. Always too many things to do and not enough time.
