Christmas Bowls

Dave MacLuskie

>A few walnut bowls, done just in time for the holidays. All are finished with Watco, and buffed. (and I finally got a better photo shoot area than the driveway.)

6.75" diameter, 3.5" tall

7.5" diameter, 2.5" tall

5" diameter, 2.5" tall

And a spalted holly bowl. The inclusion was a happy accident.

8" diameter, 2.75" tall

>Nice looking bowls and shapes. I might suggest you use an urethane oil or lacquer on some and see how you like it. Walnut is a beautiful wood and is readly available even in Kansas. I like the contrast of purple, orange and the sapwood. Keep on doing what you are doing. Thanks for showing. GT

>Thanks all :) The second is my favorite as well. I think I caught the tail end of a crotch in there on the one side.

>Hi Dave....all of them are very nice. I love the rims on the first three, and the ogee shape on the fourth one is wonderful. Walnut is probably my favorite wood to turn and when it has a bit of the cream color in it....all the better. Very lovely all of them!
