4th Bowl in the batch

Mark Kauder. Phenix City, AL

>Warning - Bad photo - sorry but my camera decided it did not want to work after a few photos tonight, so I had to deal with what I had.

This one is 9" in diameter, Paduak, Yellowheart, Bloodwood, and Maple. High gloss lacquer finish. The middle feature ring is the result of a foul up. I intended to do a zig zag, but I did not flip every other piece before cutting them into segments. SO.....I decided to glue it up anyway - flipping every other segment top to bottom. I did not intend for the layers to line up. I thought it was an interesting look, so I kept it, and duplicated it in the neck.

Critique welcome as usual.

>Hi Mark,

Wish my "foul-ups" were as beautiful : )

It's stunning as I've come to expect of your pieces. I love the color contrasts and the form...I really love the pattern on the neck too. Just beautiful!

>Guess it just didn't want to be a zig zag. In my opinion this design looks even better. Hope you wrote down how you did it.

Very nice indeed...the neck ring really does it.
