>I'm sure this has been posted before, but the warning may be useful:

Don't keep your steel wool near the grinder: As the sparks from the tool hit the wool, it takes on a warm glow that doesn't belong to the Christmas season. DAMHIK

>Good tip. People who don't know what can happen with heat and steel wool just think it is a bit of steel and steel doesn't burn.

I was using a wire wheel on my drill press to clean something once. A spark flew over to my workbench and ignited the steel wool. I burned hot and fast. Being quick of mind I scooped it off the wooden work bench-----right into a pile of shavings from the lathe, brilliant move. Fortunately I was able to stomp it out. Created a few new words that I can't publish here.

>Steel wool burning, is, of course, steel wool rusting - at warp speed. It's the same process; iron and oxygen uniting.

Best to keep them apart.
