Hello: I recently bought some acrylic acetate pen blanks from Berea hardwoods. I have never used this stuff before but it looked nice in the catalog. What is the best way to get a finsh on it? Will sanding it to 2000 grit or something close to that get a nice polish on it or do I need to do something else? Any help would be appreciated. I planned on making some pens from it to give to my wife and kids, time is getting short and I cant put it off any longer. Thanks in advance Jared

Wet sanding is recommended starting at 400. Did I say don't let it get too hot? You can sand to whatever the finest grit you have on hand. 2000 produces an acceptable finish. To get a real polished surface most turners use MicroMesh to 12,000 mm, again wet sanding with water.

Plastic polishes work well after sanding. I especially like the Novus polishes. Novus #1 is a good final coat. Wax is a good final coat too. Careful with buffs, can get HOT!
