OT.....Christmas Story, maybe even untrue?

Stan Campbell

>Not long ago and far away, Santa was getting ready for his annual trip...but there were problems everywhere.

Four of his elves got sick, and the trainee elves did not produce the toys as fast as the regular ones so Santa was beginning to feel the pressure of being behind schedule. Then Mrs. Claus told Santa that her Mom was coming to visit. This stressed Santa even more. When he went to harness the reindeer, he found that three of them were about to give birth and two had jumped the fence and were out, heaven knows where to. More Stress! Then when he began to load the sleigh, one of the boards cracked and the toy bag fell to the ground and scattered the toys.

Totally frustrated, Santa went into the house for a cup of coffee and a shot of whiskey. When he went to the cupboard, he found the elves had hit the liquor and there was nothing to drink. In his frustration, he dropped the coffee pot and it broke into hundreds of little pieces all over the kitchen floor. He went to get the broom and found that mice had eaten the straw it was made from. Just then the doorbell rang and Santa cussed on his way to the door. He opened the door and there was a little angel with a great big Christmas tree. The angel said: "Where would you like to put this tree fat man?"

And that my friend.... is how the little angel came to be on top of the Christmas tree.

An OT, but true, reply

Mike Schwing from Md.

>This made me think of my conversation with my parents yesterday. Two related items...

I'm the oldest of 3 boys, and as such I discovered that my parents were really Santa before my brothers. I kept the secret. BUT, every year we would get, all 3 of us, letters in the mail, with a US postal stamp of "North Pole". This played with my logic filled brain to no end, because I KNEW there was no Santa, my parents had as much as admitted it, yet there was direct physical evidence of Santa's existence at the North Pole. I just could not resolve this in my brain, but I never mentioned it to anyone. I now know that the Post Office will do this for parents if they send it through the proper channels. See, my parents really ARE Santa, and I'm now cool with that.

The other thing. My Dad was talking about how insane crazy Christmas Eve was because their tradition was the tree didn't go up until Christmas Eve after we all went to bed, but they also had to put all of our gifts together and stuff and there just wan't enough time. My brothers and I looked at each other - none of us recall the tree waiting till Christmas Eve. All of that work and we don't even remember it. However, my Dad also told us that one year he had a neighbor call and pose as Santa. My Dad on the other end "Santa? Yes, this is Fred, whats that, you're going to be very busy this year, so would we put the tree up in advance and just leave the angel for you to put on? Sure Santa, no problem."

>Hey Mike,

What a Christmas this is going to be. I'll be turning 53 this week, and you tell me there's no Santa! Well, at least I can look forward to the Easter bunny and the tooth fairy. Well maybe the Easter bunny, my teeth are long gone.
