>Vicmarc. I haven't used the new Nova models but I wouldn't get a Super Nova again. I don't like the holding profile on the Stronghold.

Oneway Talon

Doug J Crawfordsville, IN

>I just recently bought the Oneway Talon chuck to replace the, not so perfect PSI chuck. My decision was based on the "tried-n-true" approach from the many owners of the Talon. It has one heck of a grip. Even after some gouge catches the jaws held firm. Good luck on your choice.

Somewhere out there is a 25% off coupon from Rockler.

>My usual advice is to remind folks that they are not just purchasing a chuck, but entering into an entire chucking system that includes jaws, spindle matching inserts, manufacturer's accessories like items to give the scroll chuck screw chuck function, and even aftermarket accessories (say like the Best Woodtools and Stebcenter spindle center attachments).

In my experience, all the current chucks from the major manufacturers (Axminster, Oneway, Teknatool and Vicmark) are credible chucks. You likely won't go seriously wrong with any of them. So I suggest you choose the chuck according to you present and anticipated future needs. Some chucks like the Talon, have relatively few jaw sets and accessories available for it, other chucks like the Axminster and Teknatool have a huge number of chuck sets available. Some chucks can easily interchange jaws and other components between chucks in their line (Teknatool) regardless of size, while other cannot mount the same jaws on bot their larger and smaller chucks (Vicmark, Oneway, etc.)

So I suggest you carefully evaluate you jaw needs, then look to see which chuck from one of the major manufacturers has jaw sets that most closely meet your needs.

>I have 2 Super Novas and 1 new Titan. One of the novas has the new bowl jaws and just love them. The other has the dove tail jaws. Only use for small things now that I have more than one chuck. Really like the new Titan. The jaws are big and 1 5/8" deep. Have had service out of the super Novas.

Had a screw hole strip in a jaw slide. E-mailed Teknatool and they gave a name of a guy who handeles warranty work. Called him and got the jaw set before the week was out.

>Hi Tom

If you want a secure hold on a bowl blank then you need the gripping power and hold of a Oneway chuck, be it the Talon or Stronghold, they hold!!! there's non better.

Have fun and take care
